At Charlotte Douglas International Airport, the Weightless Monument spans the concourse as a 90-foot field of chain gathered into catenary curves. Catenary curves are shaped by gravity, rather than rigid structure, with their swooping forms creating a feeling of atmosphere, shifting with the movement and the light. Working in airports presents both technical and logistical challenges. The installation marks ongoing collaboration with BNS - we are gratified to have played an essential role in bringing their complex, clear, and inspiring vision to life.
