UCHI LA
Designed by ORA, the UCHI LA’s latest location explores the intersection of Angeleno and Japanese design sensibilities through collaboration with local designers and makers.
Angel City Lumber fabricated wood-screen panels from reclaimed wood sourced across Los Angeles, and NOUS designed custom anchorage to hang these throughout the restaurant. NOUS also worked with the ORA team to design for loads from heavy planters that bring the outside in. The project required tight coordination between designers; mechanical, electrical, and plumbing specialists; and food consultants. as well as MEP and food consultant trades. The new space celebrates natural materials, finely crafted details, and Southern California’s defining indoor-outdoor ethos.
