THE ALVARADO
Los Angeles, CA USA
2023

The Alvarado reimagines a 1980s Westlake motel as supportive housing for families transitioning out of homelessness. The four-story building provides 43 units and 172 beds, framed by bold graphic facades and vibrant interiors that foster dignity and belonging. Shared offices, service areas, and community rooms expand its impact, while drought-tolerant landscaping and solar arrays advance sustainability. Nous Engineering supported the project with structural design solutions that enabled its rapid eight-month delivery and lasting community benefit.
