Philips Gallery Los Angeles

Preserving the identity of each building, while bringing them together through a shared color palette, the design creates room for a patio, three galleries, and offices. NOUS worked closely with Formation to develop the ceiling system that defines the galleries, determine how to cut new windows into the perimeter so as to bring in more light, and design openings that facilitate the handling and delivery of large works of art. The new building is both an expression of the local Los Angeles character and Phillips’s streamlined vision.
