New Redemption Hospital
Liberia’s long civil war and, later, the effects of the Ebola epidemic left the country’s healthcare delivery system fragmented, damaged, and heavily dependent on international donors.
In the intervening decades, the country has taken bold steps to transition from a reactive emergency relief model to a functioning decentralized healthcare system. The New Redemption Hospital will function as an independent 155-bed maternity and pediatric ward and play a critical role in the country’s new healthcare delivery system. As part of the Clinton Health Access Initiative and with sponsorship from the World Bank, NOUS worked with MASS Design Group to deliver healthcare infrastructure. The first phase of rebuilding includes the New Redemption Hospital on the 40-acre Caldwell Campus. The site will be a new teaching hospital, intended to be a model for future healthcare buildings and a referral center for pediatrics and women's healthcare across the country.
