The Calling Wins SEAOC Excellence in Engineering Award

Nous Engineering is honored to receive the 2025 SEAOC Award for Excellence in Structural Engineering for our work on The Calling, a large public sculpture in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Created by artist Andy Scott and built by Dyson Womack, the sculpture spans 90 feet wide and stands 32 feet tall. Made from thin stainless steel, it presented unique challenges that required creative engineering to support its impressive size.

To keep the sculpture strong and stable in all weather, we used advanced analysis to decide where internal supports were needed. This helped the structure stay light while standing up to the elements. We're proud to be part of a project that brings together art and engineering in such a powerful way.
